Forty Hour Club
DRIVING THE NARRATIVE / 2018
Founded by Playwright and Director Michael Gorman and a collective of independent artists, “The Forty Hour Club”, is dedicated to creating productions that ask the question “To what consequence?” The productions focus on the economic, environmental and systemic destruction facing working communities and the paramount issue of sustainability.
Mike and the Forty Hour Club are currently working on an epic project “Chasing the New White Whale”, that includes a series of environmental installations and performances, as well as a trilogy of plays—“The Honor and Glory of Whaling” — that deals with the issue of opiate addiction in the commercial fishing community of New England. A production of the full trilogy is scheduled for 2018 in The Ellen Stewart Theater at La MaMa in NYC, where Mike is the newly appointed 'Playwright in Residence.' |
