June 2017 -- "Honor & Glory of Whaling" Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Rockland, Maine
In this staged reading and installation series, Gorman began the process of synthesizing the three unique, yet intrinsically connected plays in his trilogy, “The Honor and Glory of Whaling”, into a single epic piece. The readings incorporated: performance; artwork; music; and more.
Most memorably, the staged readings introduced and showcased a captivating mythical chorus of primitive whale hunters and modern day commercial fishermen inspired by Ahab's stowaway crew— "Fedallah and the Phantoms”.
This staged reading series was part of Gorman’s on-going project “Chasing the New White Whale”, which serves to address the issue of opiate addiction within the commercial fishing industry.
