How and Why I Robbed My First Cheese Store (2011)

Picture
WRITTEN BY / MICHAEL GORMAN
DIRECTED BY / DAVID BENNETT
INSTALLATION BY / GREGORY DE LA HABA

May 19 – June 5, 2011
First Floor Theatre, La MaMa, New York

In this highly humorous look at the pretentious, ego-ridden world of downtown New York City Theater, a homeless playwright turns the tables on the patronizing Artistic Director of a downtown theatre to pull off a potent Page Six story headline, if not the most absurd heist of all time.  Featuring video, photography, cheese and a life-sized taxidermy horse!

“How and Why I Robbed My First Cheese Store, by downtown theater veteran Mike Gorman seeks to poke fun at and dismantle the pretension that makes the theater industry often so unwelcome to outsiders”.
